This year at Crestview, we have decided to move towards doing our part to promote a healthier environment by encouraging students to have a litterless lunch. Students have been asked to take the remains from their lunches home.

We are hoping to see benefits in two areas. First of all and most importantly, this will give parents a better sense of what your child has eaten during the day. With everything coming home, parents will be better able to monitor the quantities of food their child consumes during the day.

It will also have the added benefit of reducing the amount of garbage that students dispose of at Crestview. We are hoping that parents and children will take the time to think about and discuss appropriate lunchtime containers that could be brought to school as we all work together towards bringing litterless lunches.

Each child will be provided with a large Ziploc bag at the beginning of next week. During the first week of the litterless lunch program, we will be sending home food wrappers. The second week will see yogurt and recyclable containers sent home. Finally, during the third week, everything will be sent home including organic waste.

We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation, and as always, please feel free to call the school if you have any questions or concerns.
Yours truly,

The Crestview Green Team
